Since Covid-19 came along, we have all had to adapt to the restrictions this imposes and change the way we do things in our everyday life in order to reduce the possibility of transmission and keep everyone safe.
As physiotherapy is traditionally a very hands-on profession it was of course immediately affected. However our patients still need help, possibly more than ever due to a lengthy period of reduced activity. At Physio4Kids & Young Adults we wanted to be able to continue to provide a premium physiotherapy service to all who need it.
We have therefore developed a safe and effective way of continuing to offer our high quality physiotherapy services without risk of infection from coronavirus. This will ensure that individuals do not suffer from an extended break in treatment, which could set rehabilitation back a long way. It also means that new patients do not have to wait until the restrictions have lifted before they can access an assessment.

Introducing our online video consultations and treatments
We are proud to be able to introduce our new online physiotherapy assessment and treatment service. Meeting via video link rather than in person, our expert therapists can still discuss your child’s physical issues in depth and also to carry out an assessment of the problem online.
Just as in our face to face sessions, we are able to assess and offer advice for a range of neurological conditions, delayed motor development, orthopaedic conditions and genetic conditions, all within your own home.
We will be continuing to offer this service after restrictions are lifted for patients who might have difficulty accessing our in-person sessions.

A typical session lasts an hour and includes:
- An in-depth discussion about your child’s difficulties. This would include your child’s symptoms and your concerns, as well as information about past medical history and any other relevant questions.
- A physical assessment, which would involve your child being asked to perform a variety of movements, giving your physiotherapist a clearer idea of the issue.
- Any follow up questions
- A full discussion regarding what the physiotherapist has noticed/diagnosed. This will include creating a plan for the rehabilitation journey. The physiotherapist will go through suggested exercises and techniques, making sure that all of these suit your situation, physically, practically and logistically. A summary of this plan will be emailed to you after the consultation.
- If appropriate further sessions will be booked to continue input.
I’m convinced! What do I need?
You won’t need much in the way of technology, just a laptop, tablet or phone with a camera and a screen and a microphone.
If your child already uses mobility aids of any sort, please have them to hand.
Your child will need to wear comfortable stretchy or loose fitting clothing.
If possible, choose somewhere you won’t be interrupted by other people in the house or by noise. Ideally, there should be space for you both to sit comfortably for the first part of the session, as well as reasonable space for your child to move around for the physical assessment.
Don’t put off getting treatment any longer. Call us today on 07847 034360 or send us a message and let’s get your child on the road to recovery.
